Zusammenfassung: | "This is a book for activists, students, scholars of social movements and adult education and for the public interested in the contemporary movements of our times. From the streets of Barcelona and Athens, the public squares in Cairo, Tunis and Tripoli, the flash mobs and virtual learning of the #Occupy movement, and the shack dwellers of South Africa people around the world are organising themselves to take action against the ravages of a capitalism that serves the greedy while impoverishing the rest. Social movements have arisen or re-arisen in virtually every sector of human activity from concerns about the fate of our planet earth, to dignity for those living with HIV/AIDS, to feeding ourselves in healthier ways and survival in places of violent conflict. At the heart of each of these movements are activists and ordinary people learning how to change their lives and how to change the world. This book offers contemporary theoretical and practical insights into the learning that happens both within and outside of social movements. Social movement scholars present work linked to the arts, to organic farming, to environmental action, to grassroots activists in the Global South, to the Arab Spring, the Occupy movement, the shackdwellers movements, school reform and the role of Marx, Gramscii and Williams in understanding social movement learning."--Publisher's website |

Social movement scholars present work linked to the arts, to organic farming, to environmental action, to grassroots activists in the Global South, to the Arab Spring, the Occupy movement, the shackdwellers movements, school reform and the role of Marx, Gramscii and Williams in understanding social movement learning."--Publisher's website</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Educational sociology.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85041146</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Social movements.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85123979</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Sociologie de l'éducation.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Mouvements sociaux.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">social movements.</subfield><subfield code="2">aat</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Public Policy</subfield><subfield code="x">Cultural Policy.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Anthropology</subfield><subfield code="x">Cultural.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Popular Culture.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Education.</subfield><subfield code="2">eclas</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Sciences sociales.</subfield><subfield code="2">eclas</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Sciences humaines.</subfield><subfield code="2">eclas</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Educational sociology</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Social movements</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Education.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">onderwijs</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1="1" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Education (General)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1="1" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Onderwijs (algemeen)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Hall, Budd L.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Learning and education for a better world (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCGDj4VMVyJhxwgYktX6fWP</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="z">94-6091-978-2</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="z">94-6091-977-4</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">International issues in adult education ;</subfield><subfield code="v">v. 10.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2010168639</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EDU</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EDU</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=576431</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH26856908</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Coutts Information Services</subfield><subfield code="b">COUT</subfield><subfield code="n">25773548</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL -
