Zusammenfassung: | "This publication gives a wide-ranging perspective on the present state of mechanization in the developing world, and, as such, constitutes a solid platform on which to build strategies for a sustainable future. Farm mechanization forms an integral plank in the implementation of sustainable crop production intensification methodologies and sustainable intensification necessarily means that the protection of natural resources and the production of ecosystem services go hand-in-hand with intensified production practices. This requires specific mechanization measures to allow crops to be established with minimum soil disturbance, to allow the soil to be protected under organic cover for as long as possible, and to establish crop rotations and associations to feed the soil and to exploit crop nutrients from various soil horizons. This work is the starting point to help the reader understand the complexities and requirements of the task ahead."--Publisher's description |

Print version record. "This publication gives a wide-ranging perspective on the present state of mechanization in the developing world, and, as such, constitutes a solid platform on which to build strategies for a sustainable future. This work is the starting point to help the reader understand the complexities and requirements of the task ahead."--Publisher's description FOREWORD -- ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS -- CONTENTS -- LIST OF FIGURES AND TABLES -- ABBREVIATIONS AND ACRONYMS -- SUMMARY -- CHAPTER 1 Investing in agricultural mechanization for development in East Africa -- CHAPTER 2 Agricultural mechanization in Southern African countries -- CHAPTER 3 Agricultural mechanization in West and Central Africa -- CHAPTER 4 Rural and agricultural mechanization in Bangladesh and Nepal: Status, processes and outcomes -- CHAPTER 5 Agricultural mechanization in India CHAPTER 6 China: Development of farm mechanization and the agricultural machinery industryCHAPTER 7 The Near East Region -- CHAPTER 8 The development of farm mechanization in Brazil -- CHAPTER 9 Agricultural mechanization in countries in transition in Eastern Europe and Central Asia -- CHAPTER 10 Agricultural mechanization and the environment -- CHAPTER 11 Agricultural mechanization strategies -- CHAPTER 12 Agricultural mechanization in development: A donorâ€?s view -- CHAPTER 13 Off-farm use of agricultural machinery CHAPTER 14 Agricultural machinery manufacturing and supplyCHAPTER 15 Investing in Information dissemination and exchange -- CHAPTER 16 Information Exchange and Networking: the RNAM Experience Farm mechanization. http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85047233 Agricultural machinery. http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85002361 Farm equipment. http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85047212 Mécanisation agricole.
