Zusammenfassung: | "The importance of research on the notion of trust has grown considerably in the social sciences over the last three decades. Much has been said about the decline of political trust in democracies and intense debates have occurred about the nature and complexity of the relationship between trust and democracy. Political trust is usually understood as trust towards political institutions (including trust towards political actors that inhabit the institutions), trust between citizens, and to a lesser extent, trust between groups. However, the literature on trust has given no special attention to the issue of trust between minority and majority nations in multinational democracies--countries that are not only multicultural but also constitutional associations containing two or more nations or peoples whose members claim to be self-governing and have the right of self-determination. This volume, part of the work of the Groupe de recherche sur les sociétés plurinationales (GRSP), is a comparative study of trust, distrust, and mistrust in multinational democracies, centring on Canada, Belgium, Spain, and the United Kingdom. It stands out for its particular focus on the dynamics of trust, distrust, and mistrust. Beliefs, attitudes, practices, and relations of trust, distrust, and mistrust are studied as situated, interacting, and coexisting phenomena that change over time and space."-- |

Beliefs, attitudes, practices, and relations of trust, distrust, and mistrust are studied as situated, interacting, and coexisting phenomena that change over time and space."--</subfield><subfield code="c">Provided by publisher.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="588" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Print version record.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Political participation</subfield><subfield code="v">Cross-cultural studies.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Democracy</subfield><subfield code="x">Public opinion</subfield><subfield code="v">Cross-cultural studies.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Trust</subfield><subfield code="x">Political aspects</subfield><subfield code="v">Cross-cultural studies.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Political alienation</subfield><subfield code="v">Cross-cultural studies.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Comparative government.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85029298</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Participation politique</subfield><subfield code="v">Études transculturelles.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Confiance</subfield><subfield code="x">Aspect politique</subfield><subfield code="v">Études transculturelles.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Aliénation politique</subfield><subfield code="v">Études transculturelles.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Political Freedom & Security</subfield><subfield code="x">Civil Rights.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Political Freedom & Security</subfield><subfield code="x">Human Rights.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Comparative Politics.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Comparative government</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Democracy</subfield><subfield code="x">Public opinion</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Political alienation</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Political participation</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Trust</subfield><subfield code="x">Political aspects</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Electronic books.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Cross-cultural studies</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Karmis, Dimitrios,</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2004108889</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Rocher, François,</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n94007136</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Trust, distrust, and mistrust in multinational democracies (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCFvTJ9yXjKDxbhWxvrwMrm</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="t">Trust, distrust, and mistrust in multinational democracies.</subfield><subfield code="d">Montreal ; "The importance of research on the notion of trust has grown considerably in the social sciences over the last three decades. Beliefs, attitudes, practices, and relations of trust, distrust, and mistrust are studied as situated, interacting, and coexisting phenomena that change over time and space."-- Provided by publisher.
