Green chemistry deals with environmentally benign chemical synthesis. Basic principles of green chemistry and how to plan a green synthesis have been discussed. Organic synthesis using benign green solvents like water, supercritical carbon dioxide ionic Liquids, polyethylene glycol and ferrous solvents. Organic synthesis using phase transter catalysts and ultra sound have also been incorporated. The use of green catalysts including biocatalysts and polymer supported reagents and solid state organic synthesis have been discussed.
