Zusammenfassung: | "Today's students are tomorrow's leaders, and the college years are a critical period for their ethical development. Cheating in College explores how and why students cheat and what policies, practices, and participation may be useful in promoting academic integrity and reducing cheating. The authors investigate trends over time, including internet-based cheating. They consider personal and situational reasons and the culture of groups where dishonesty is more common (such as business majors) and social settings that support cheating (such as fraternities and sororities). Faculty and administrators are increasing their efforts to promote academic honesty among students. Orientation and training sessions, information on college and university websites, chapters in student handbooks that describe codes of conduct, honor codes, and course syllabi all define cheating and establish the consequences. Based on the authors' multiyear, multisite surveys, Cheating in College quantifies and analyzes student cheating to demonstrate why academic integrity is important and the cultural efforts that are effective in restoring it"--Publisher. |

Cheating in College explores how and why students cheat and what policies, practices, and participation may be useful in promoting academic integrity and reducing cheating. Based on the authors' multiyear, multisite surveys, Cheating in College quantifies and analyzes student cheating to demonstrate why academic integrity is important and the cultural efforts that are effective in restoring it"--Publisher.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Education, Higher</subfield><subfield code="x">Moral and ethical aspects.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Cheating (Education)</subfield><subfield code="z">United States.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">College students</subfield><subfield code="z">United States</subfield><subfield code="x">Conduct of life.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Enseignement supérieur</subfield><subfield code="x">Aspect moral.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Copiage</subfield><subfield code="z">États-Unis.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Étudiants</subfield><subfield code="z">États-Unis</subfield><subfield code="x">Morale pratique.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">EDUCATION</subfield><subfield code="x">Higher.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Cheating (Education)</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">College students</subfield><subfield code="x">Conduct of life</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Education, Higher</subfield><subfield code="x">Moral and ethical aspects</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">United States</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJtxgQXMWqmjMjjwXRHgrq</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Hochschule</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="0">http://d-nb.info/gnd/4072560-1</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Hochschulpolitik</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Plagiat</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Treviño, Linda Klebe.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Butterfield, Kenneth D.</subfield><subfield code="q">(Kenneth Daniel)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCjBFRwBY7PK3rm8YTTj7pd</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">McCabe, Donald L.</subfield><subfield code="t">Cheating in college.</subfield><subfield code="d">Baltimore : The Johns Hopkins University Press, 2012</subfield><subfield code="z">9781421407166</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2012007935</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)780415667</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=601100</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Internet Archive</subfield><subfield code="b">INAR</subfield><subfield code="n">cheatingincolleg0000mcca</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Introduction -- Where to begin : academic dishonesty among high school students -- Prevalence, types, and methods of cheating in college -- Individual student characteristics that influence academic integrity -- Institutional factors that influence academic integrity : the role of honor codes -- Institutional factors that influence academic integrity : other contextual influences -- The faculty role in creating a strong academic integrity environment -- Academic integrity in business and professional schools -- Creating a culture of integrity : practical advice for faculty and administrators. "Today's students are tomorrow's leaders, and the college years are a critical period for their ethical development.
