Zusammenfassung: | Over the last two decades, an increasingly economistic discourse has dominated discussions about adult literacy and numeracy. This book provides critiques of, and alternative narratives to the dominant discourse. Authors provide tools and methodologies of critique, including ways of seeing how policies in the countries of focus come to be captured almost completely by the interests of business and industry, as well as how to critically interpret the data that policy makers use to justify their priorities. But adult literacy and numeracy practitioners and learners find spaces and places to pursue learning that matters for the lived experiences of adults and their communities. Beyond Economic Interests presents the struggles and achievements of practitioners and learners that lead the readers of the book to critically appreciate that a counter narrative to the purely economistic discourse of adult literacy and numeracy is much needed, and possible. |

Beyond Economic Interests presents the struggles and achievements of practitioners and learners that lead the readers of the book to critically appreciate that a counter narrative to the purely economistic discourse of adult literacy and numeracy is much needed, and possible.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Functional literacy.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh87001937</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Functional literacy</subfield><subfield code="x">Government policy.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Functional literacy</subfield><subfield code="x">Social aspects.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Alphabétisation fonctionnelle.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Alphabétisation fonctionnelle</subfield><subfield code="x">Politique gouvernementale.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Alphabétisation fonctionnelle</subfield><subfield code="x">Aspect social.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">JUVENILE NONFICTION</subfield><subfield code="x">General.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Functional literacy</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Functional literacy</subfield><subfield code="x">Government policy</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Functional literacy</subfield><subfield code="x">Social aspects</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Yasukawa, Keiko,</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Black, Stephen R.,</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Beyond Economic Interests (Work)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCXJMkY8jtmDwQW7FgJB4HK</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Yasukawa, Keiko.</subfield><subfield code="t">Beyond Economic Interests : Critical Perspectives on Adult Literacy and Numeracy in a Globalised World.</subfield><subfield code="d">Rotterdam : SensePublishers, ©2016</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">International issues in adult education ;</subfield><subfield code="v">v. 18.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2010168639</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=1168442</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH31367416</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Coutts Information Services</subfield><subfield code="b">COUT</subfield><subfield code="n">33916847</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL4405648</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">1168442</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest MyiLibrary Digital eBook Collection</subfield><subfield code="b">IDEB</subfield><subfield code="n">cis33916847</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">12846166</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Over the last two decades, an increasingly economistic discourse has dominated discussions about adult literacy and numeracy.
