Zusammenfassung: | "This book marks an important contribution to the fascinating debate on the role that information infrastructures and boundary objects play in contemporary life, bringing to the fore the concern of how cooperation across different groups is enabled, but also constrained, by the material and immaterial objects connecting them. As such, the book itself is situated at the crossroads of various paths and genealogies, all focusing on the problem of the intersection between different levels of scale throughout devices, networks, and society. Information infrastructures allow, facilitate, mediate, saturate and influence people's material and immaterial surroundings. They are often shaped and intertwined with networks of relations and distributed agency, sometimes enabling the existence of such networks, and being, in turn, produced by them. Such infrastructures are not static and immobile in time and space: rather, they require maintenance and repair, which becomes an important aspect of their use. They also define and cross more or less visible boundaries, shape and act as ecologies, and constitute themselves as multiple entities. The various chapters of this edited book question the role of information infrastructures in various settings from both a theoretical and an empirical viewpoint, reflecting the contributors' interests in science and technology studies, organization studies, and information science, as well as mobilities and media studies"--Provided by publisher |

The various chapters of this edited book question the role of information infrastructures in various settings from both a theoretical and an empirical viewpoint, reflecting the contributors' interests in science and technology studies, organization studies, and information science, as well as mobilities and media studies"--Provided by publisher</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="588" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Print version record.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Computer networks.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85029513</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Computer networks</subfield><subfield code="x">Social aspects.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Réseaux d'ordinateurs.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Réseaux d'ordinateurs</subfield><subfield code="x">Aspect social.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Scientific standards.</subfield><subfield code="2">bicssc</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Impact of science & technology on society.</subfield><subfield code="2">bicssc</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Intermediate technology.</subfield><subfield code="2">bicssc</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">General.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Computer networks</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Computer networks</subfield><subfield code="x">Social aspects</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Mongili, Alessandro,</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCjJqRRQjBWPWmyYvYtTd73</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/nr96019427</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Pellegrino, Giuseppina,</subfield><subfield code="d">1974-</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCjtJHmrqtwxX7bPrrhcTMd</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2008016498</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Bowker, Geoffrey C.,</subfield><subfield code="e">writer of foreword.</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJbWqyRYwm7dMJwYHW7vHC</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n93070811</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Information infrastructure(s) (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCG9pMKPqVRvvpqgRKK43pK</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="t">Information infrastructure(s).</subfield><subfield code="d">Newcastle upon Tyne : Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2014</subfield><subfield code="z">1443866555</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)899204963</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=939536</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH28401851</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - "This book marks an important contribution to the fascinating debate on the role that information infrastructures and boundary objects play in contemporary life, bringing to the fore the concern of how cooperation across different groups is enabled, but also constrained, by the material and immaterial objects connecting them. The various chapters of this edited book question the role of information infrastructures in various settings from both a theoretical and an empirical viewpoint, reflecting the contributors' interests in science and technology studies, organization studies, and information science, as well as mobilities and media studies"--Provided by publisher Print version record.
