Zusammenfassung: | This work explores a neglected aspect of the forced migration of African labourers to the Americas. Hundreds of thousands of captive Africans continued their journeys after the Middle Passage across the Atlantic. Colonial merchants purchased and then trans-shipped many of these captives to other colonies for resale. Drawing on a database of more than 7,000 intercolonial slave trading voyages compiled from port records, newspapers, and merchant accounts, the book identifies and quantifies the major routes of this intercolonial slave trade. |

Intercolonial slave trade of British America, 1619-1807 Chapel Hill [North Carolina] : Published for the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture, Williamsburg, Virginia, by the University of North Carolina Press, [2014] ©2014 1 online resource (ix, 394 pages) text txt rdacontent computer c rdamedia online resource cr rdacarrier Published for the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture, Williamsburg, Virginia Includes bibliographical references and index. This work explores a neglected aspect of the forced migration of African labourers to the Americas.
