Zusammenfassung: | Investigates the sensuous qualities of narration in the feature-length fiction film. How can a film engage a viewer's senses? How do directors combine images and sounds to create a sensuous quality in their films? What can the use of sensuous film aesthetics contribute to a film's story? The Sense of Film Narration examines films that combine different types of images and sounds in a way that brings out their sensuous qualities in an especially vivid manner. It demonstrates that a film's sensuous qualities can be intimately connected to its storytelling processes. Through close textual analysis of films such as Amores Perros, Double Take, Toy Story 2, Palindromes and Magnolia, this book highlights how films can make viewers particularly aware of their senses in order to help them understand the events, behaviours and attitudes within a film's fictional world. An insightful and thought-provoking read, The Sense of Film Narration brings a fresh perspective to film aesthetics which will be welcomed by film students and scholars. |

An insightful and thought-provoking read, The Sense of Film Narration brings a fresh perspective to film aesthetics which will be welcomed by film students and scholars.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Motion pictures</subfield><subfield code="x">Production and direction.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85088104</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Sound in motion pictures.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2006007387</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Cinéma</subfield><subfield code="x">Production et réalisation.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Cinéma</subfield><subfield code="x">Son.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">PERFORMING ARTS</subfield><subfield code="x">Reference.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">PERFORMING ARTS</subfield><subfield code="x">Film & Video</subfield><subfield code="x">History & Criticism.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Motion pictures</subfield><subfield code="x">Production and direction</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Sound in motion pictures</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Garwood, Ian.</subfield><subfield code="t">Sense of Film Narration.</subfield><subfield code="d">Edinburgh : Edinburgh University Press, ©2013</subfield><subfield code="z">9780748640720</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Edinburgh studies in film.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2010107913</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=632677</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH28789270</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest Ebook Central</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL1353384</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10748523</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">632677</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">11082347</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Investigates the sensuous qualities of narration in the feature-length fiction film.
