Zusammenfassung: | For the Galvani Bicentenary Celebrations, the University of Bologna and its Academy of Sciences singled out subnuclear physics as the field of scientific research to be associated with this important event, as it would best illustrate, for the new generation of students, the challenge inherent in fundamental sciences. Subnuclear physics was born 50 years ago and has represented, ever since, the new frontiers of Galilean science. In his opening lecture delivered on the first day of the new academic year, Professor Antonino Zichichi analytically reviewed the basic conceptual developments and main discoveries achieved in subnuclear physics during the last 50 years. Given the importance of this field of fundamental research, Professor Zichichi was invited to expand the contents of his lecture into a book, and the outcome is this invaluable volume. |

Given the importance of this field of fundamental research, Professor Zichichi was invited to expand the contents of his lecture into a book, and the outcome is this invaluable volume.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Particles (Nuclear physics)</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85098374</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Nuclear physics.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85093024</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Elementary Particles</subfield><subfield code="0">https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D004601</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Nuclear Physics</subfield><subfield code="0">https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D009686</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Particules (Physique nucléaire)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Physique nucléaire.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">particle physics.</subfield><subfield code="2">aat</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">nuclear physics.</subfield><subfield code="2">aat</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Physics</subfield><subfield code="x">Nuclear.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Nuclear physics</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Particles (Nuclear physics)</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Partículas (física nuclear)</subfield><subfield code="2">larpcal</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Barnabei, O.</subfield><subfield code="q">(Ottavio)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCjqHh34pFtyCxt4wrKDP43</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n97043255</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Pupillo, P.</subfield><subfield code="q">(Paolo)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJgHbth3HFrKGydqGV3YT3</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n99830812</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Roversi Monaco, Fabio A.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Zichichi, Antonino.</subfield><subfield code="t">Subnuclear physics.</subfield><subfield code="d">Singapore ; River Edge, NJ : World Scientific, 2000</subfield><subfield code="z">9810241232</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 99048252</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)42398079</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">World Scientific series in 20th century physics ;</subfield><subfield code="v">v. 24.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n93025589</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=514097</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH24685206</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest Ebook Central</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL3051051</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10699305</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">514097</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">9966364</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

For the Galvani Bicentenary Celebrations, the University of Bologna and its Academy of Sciences singled out subnuclear physics as the field of scientific research to be associated with this important event, as it would best illustrate, for the new generation of students, the challenge inherent in fundamental sciences.
