Zusammenfassung: | "More than a quarter of a million Muslims live and work in Hong Kong. Among them are descendants of families who have been in the city for generations, recent immigrants from around the world, and growing numbers of migrant workers. Islam in Hong Kong explores the lives of Muslims as ethnic and religious minorities in this unique postcolonial Chinese city. Drawing on interviews with Muslims of different origins, O'Connor builds a detailed picture of daily life through topical chapters on language, space, religious education, daily prayers, maintaining a halal diet in a Chinese environment, racism, and other subjects. Although the picture that emerges is complex and ambiguous, one striking conclusion is that Muslims in Hong Kong generally find acceptance as a community and do not consider themselves to be victimised because of their religion."--Publisher's website. |

Although the picture that emerges is complex and ambiguous, one striking conclusion is that Muslims in Hong Kong generally find acceptance as a community and do not consider themselves to be victimised because of their religion."--Publisher's website.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Muslims</subfield><subfield code="z">China</subfield><subfield code="z">Hong Kong</subfield><subfield code="x">Social conditions.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Muslims</subfield><subfield code="z">China</subfield><subfield code="z">Hong Kong</subfield><subfield code="x">Social life and customs.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Muslims</subfield><subfield code="z">China</subfield><subfield code="z">Hong Kong.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Hong Kong (China)</subfield><subfield code="x">Ethnic relations.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Musulmans</subfield><subfield code="z">Chine</subfield><subfield code="z">Hongkong</subfield><subfield code="x">Conditions sociales.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Musulmans</subfield><subfield code="z">Chine</subfield><subfield code="z">Hongkong</subfield><subfield code="x">Murs et coutumes.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Musulmans</subfield><subfield code="z">Chine</subfield><subfield code="z">Hongkong.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Discrimination & Race Relations.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Minority Studies.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Islamic Studies.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Muslims</subfield><subfield code="x">Social conditions</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Ethnic relations</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Muslims</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Muslims</subfield><subfield code="x">Social life and customs</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">China</subfield><subfield code="z">Hong Kong</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJvt6xv8pV6CJd3DMttxjC</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Islam in Hong Kong (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCGqp4JQm4XQkq8r96JdTpd</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="z">9789888139576</subfield><subfield code="z">9789888139583</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Hong Kong culture and society.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no00045152</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=513038</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="l">CBO01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=513038</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Among them are descendants of families who have been in the city for generations, recent immigrants from around the world, and growing numbers of migrant workers.
