Zusammenfassung: | Recent postclassical narratology has constructed top-down reading models that often remain blind to the frame-breaking potential of individual literary narratives. Narrative, Interrupted goes beyond the macro framing typical of postclassical narratology and sets out to sketch approaches more sensitive to generic specificities, disturbing details and authorial interference. Unlike the mainstream cognitive approaches or even the emergent unnatural narratology, the articles collected here explore the artifice involved in presenting something ordinary and realistic in literature. The first section of the book deals with anti-dynamic elements such as dialogue, details, private events and literary boredom. The second section, devoted to extensions of cognitive narratology, addresses spatiotemporal oddities and the possibility of non-human narratives. The third section focuses on frame-breaking, fragmentarity and problems of authorship in the works of Vladimir Nabokov. The book presents readings of texts ranging from the novels of Don DeLillo and Thomas Pynchon to the Animal Man comics. The common denominator for the texts discussed is the interruption of the chain of events or of the experiential flow of human-like narrative agents. |

The common denominator for the texts discussed is the interruption of the chain of events or of the experiential flow of human-like narrative agents.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Discourse analysis, Narrative.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85038364</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Narration (Rhetoric)</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85089833</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Literature</subfield><subfield code="x">History and criticism</subfield><subfield code="x">Theory, etc.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85077521</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Discours narratif.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Narration.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Littérature</subfield><subfield code="x">Histoire et critique</subfield><subfield code="x">Théorie, etc.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LANGUAGE ARTS & DISCIPLINES</subfield><subfield code="x">Composition & Creative Writing.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LANGUAGE ARTS & DISCIPLINES</subfield><subfield code="x">Rhetoric.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">REFERENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Writing Skills.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Discourse analysis, Narrative</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Literature</subfield><subfield code="x">Theory, etc.</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Narration (Rhetoric)</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Literary Authorship.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Narrative Theory.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Vladimir Nabokov.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Criticism, interpretation, etc.</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Lehtimäki, Markku.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Karttunen, Laura.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Mäkelä, Maria.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="t">Narrative, interrupted.</subfield><subfield code="d">Boston : De Gruyter, 2012</subfield><subfield code="z">9783110259957</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2012031098</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)808316425</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=494136</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH25311198</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL893327</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10606516</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">494136</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">9340272</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Print version record. Includes bibliographical references and index. Recent postclassical narratology has constructed top-down reading models that often remain blind to the frame-breaking potential of individual literary narratives. English.
