Zusammenfassung: | This book contains a series of essays that explore the foundations, developments, and goals of Phase Theory. The antecedents of this framework go back to the notion of "cycle", which plays a key role in phenomena such as compositionality, locality, and economy conditions. Much recent work within minimalism has been devoted to investigating the nature of phases and their relevance for other areas of linguistic inquiry. This book aims to address these questions and sharpen our understanding about Phase Theory and the nature of the Faculty of Language. |

The antecedents of this framework go back to the notion of "cycle", which plays a key role in phenomena such as compositionality, locality, and economy conditions. Much recent work within minimalism has been devoted to investigating the nature of phases and their relevance for other areas of linguistic inquiry. This book aims to address these questions and sharpen our understanding about Phase Theory and the nature of the Faculty of Language.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Grammar, Comparative and general</subfield><subfield code="x">Syntax.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85056338</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Generative grammar.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85053821</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Syntaxe.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Grammaire générative.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LANGUAGE ARTS & DISCIPLINES</subfield><subfield code="x">Grammar & Punctuation.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LANGUAGE ARTS & DISCIPLINES</subfield><subfield code="x">Linguistics</subfield><subfield code="x">Syntax.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Generative grammar</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Grammar, Comparative and general</subfield><subfield code="x">Syntax</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Phase</subfield><subfield code="g">Minimalist program</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="0">http://d-nb.info/gnd/7654668-8</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Generative Linguistics.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Language Faculty.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Phase Theory.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Syntax.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Electronic book.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Gallego, Ángel J.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2009078877</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Chomsky, Noam.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Phases (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCGWMfgxQJKWFtTvgbY4vMd</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="t">Phases.</subfield><subfield code="d">Berlin ; Foreword; Introduction: A framework of phases for linguistic theory; Phases beyond explanatory adequacy; Phase periodicity; Exploring phase based implications regarding clausal architecture. A case study: Why structural Case cannot precede theta; Phase cycles in service of projection-free syntax; Feature-splitting Internal Merge and its implications for the elimination of A/A'-position types; On feature inheritance, defective phases, and the movement-morphology connection; The size of phases; Consequences of phases for morpho-phonology. This book contains a series of essays that explore the foundations, developments, and goals of Phase Theory.
