Zusammenfassung:This anthology examines stations in the development of Neoplatonist thought between its origins in late antiquity and its modern culmination in the philosophy of German Idealism. Aspects of the latter receive extensive treatment, in contrast to other anthologies on the Neoplatonic tradition. This volume's unique focus lies in its highlighting of the ways in which Neoplatonist thought breaks the conceptual ground for modern notions of subjectivity and self-consciousness. In doing so, it makes a distinctive contribution to the current scholarly discussion of the Neoplatonic roots of German.
