Zusammenfassung: | Robert Wokler was one of the world's leading experts on Rousseau and the Enlightenment, but some of his best work was published in the form of widely scattered and difficult-to-find essays. This book collects for the first time a representative selection of his most important essays on Rousseau and the legacy of Enlightenment political thought. These essays concern many of the great themes of the age, including liberty, equality and the origins of revolution. But they also address a number of less prominent debates, including those over cosmopolitanism, the nature and social role of music and the origins of the human sciences in the Enlightenment controversy over the relationship between humans and the great apes. |

This book collects for the first time a representative selection of his most important essays on Rousseau and the legacy of Enlightenment political thought. These essays concern many of the great themes of the age, including liberty, equality and the origins of revolution. But they also address a number of less prominent debates, including those over cosmopolitanism, the nature and social role of music and the origins of the human sciences in the Enlightenment controversy over the relationship between humans and the great apes.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Rousseau, Jean-Jacques,</subfield><subfield code="d">1712-1778.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79008220</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Rousseau, Jean-Jacques,</subfield><subfield code="d">1712-1778.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Rousseau, Jean-Jacques,</subfield><subfield code="d">1712-1778</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJv8J8HFcRcXTqbDqKh8md</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Enlightenment.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85044032</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Siècle des Lumières.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Enlightenment (18th-century western movement)</subfield><subfield code="2">aat</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">PHILOSOPHY</subfield><subfield code="x">History & Surveys</subfield><subfield code="x">Modern.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">HISTORY</subfield><subfield code="z">Europe</subfield><subfield code="z">France.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Enlightenment</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Electronic books.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Garsten, Bryan,</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Rousseau, the Age of Enlightenment, and their legacies (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCFFMqb6Gdpd9txGmX3Dbr3</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Wokler, Robert, 1942-2006.</subfield><subfield code="t">Rousseau, the Age of Enlightenment, and their legacies.</subfield><subfield code="d">Princeton : Princeton University Press, ©2012</subfield><subfield code="z">9780691147888</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2011034661</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)748577711</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="966" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">DE-862</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=439493</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="966" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">DE-863</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=439493</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Kortext</subfield><subfield code="b">KTXT</subfield><subfield code="n">391203</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">cloudLibrary</subfield><subfield code="b">CLDL</subfield><subfield code="n">9781400842407</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">hoopla Digital</subfield><subfield code="b">HOPL</subfield><subfield code="n">MWT13283817</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH23067649</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Coutts Information Services</subfield><subfield code="b">COUT</subfield><subfield code="n">22288258</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Robert Wokler was one of the world's leading experts on Rousseau and the Enlightenment, but some of his best work was published in the form of widely scattered and difficult-to-find essays.
