Zusammenfassung: | Everyone knows about the rising phenomena of social media, but what does that have to do with you, the engineer? What about engineers looking for employment? And can you really push your consultancy business, publication, and more to establish your own personal brand? Do engineering companies really need social media? Social networks are both a blessing and a curse to the engineer and scientist. The blessings are apparent: the abundance of free applications and their increasing mobility and transportability. The curse is that creating interesting and compelling content on these user-driven systems is best served by right-brain skills. But most engineers and scientists are left-brain oriented, and have generally shunned the right-brain skills like graphic design and creative writing as being indulgent and time wasting. This new book shows you how to develop better "right brain" skills and apply them to social media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others, where so much professional communication, marketing, promoting and even collaborative technical work is taking place today. |

The curse is that creating interesting and compelling content on these user-driven systems is best served by right-brain skills. But most engineers and scientists are left-brain oriented, and have generally shunned the right-brain skills like graphic design and creative writing as being indulgent and time wasting. This new book shows you how to develop better "right brain" skills and apply them to social media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others, where so much professional communication, marketing, promoting and even collaborative technical work is taking place today.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Social media.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2006007023</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Communication in engineering.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh86001360</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Social Media</subfield><subfield code="0">https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D061108</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Médias sociaux.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Communication en ingénierie.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">social media.</subfield><subfield code="2">aat</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">COMPUTERS</subfield><subfield code="x">Networking</subfield><subfield code="x">Intranets & Extranets.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">COMPUTERS</subfield><subfield code="x">Web</subfield><subfield code="x">General.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Communication in engineering</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Social media</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Social Media for Engineers and Scientists (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PD3FMCkxWrbXYpFCWQT4kQq</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="z">1606502514</subfield><subfield code="z">9781606502518</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="966" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">DE-862</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=501138</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="966" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">DE-863</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=501138</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest Ebook Central</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL883396</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10528325</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">501138</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest MyiLibrary Digital eBook Collection</subfield><subfield code="b">IDEB</subfield><subfield code="n">cis24444238</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Momentum Press</subfield><subfield code="b">NYMP</subfield><subfield code="n">9781606502532</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">7422711</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-862</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Everyone knows about the rising phenomena of social media, but what does that have to do with you, the engineer?
