Zusammenfassung: | This volume is intended to introduce university and seminary students and scholars to the neglected field of ritual studies, particularly within the larger context of biblical and theological studies. At the same time, the author hopes to further the discussion by interacting with numerous scholars in the field, providing an extensive bibliography of relevant works. Klingbeil defines the basic terms used in ritual studies and explains the concepts involved in interpreting biblical ritual. He offers a broad history of the study of biblical ritual, beginning with the critiques of ritual found in the Old Testament prophetic books and surveying attitudes toward ritual down to modern times. Drawing on the fields of anthropology and sociology, as well as his decade of work in the field, Klingbeil presents a comprehensive reading strategy for biblical ritual texts. In addition, he explores connections between ritual studies and theological research. This ground-breaking study promises to generate discussion about biblical ritual and provides an excellent introduction to this growing field of study for students and scholars. |

This ground-breaking study promises to generate discussion about biblical ritual and provides an excellent introduction to this growing field of study for students and scholars.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="630" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Bible</subfield><subfield code="x">Criticism, interpretation, etc.</subfield><subfield code="2">nli</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="630" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">New Testament</subfield><subfield code="x">Criticism, interpretation, etc.</subfield><subfield code="2">nli</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Rites and ceremonies in the Bible.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85114220</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Rites et cérémonies dans la Bible.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">RELIGION</subfield><subfield code="x">Christian Rituals & Practice</subfield><subfield code="x">Worship & Liturgy.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">RELIGION</subfield><subfield code="x">Institutions & Organizations.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Rites and ceremonies in the Bible</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Rites and ceremonies in the Bible.</subfield><subfield code="2">nli</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Ritual in the Bible.</subfield><subfield code="2">nli</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Klingbeil, Gerald A., 1964-</subfield><subfield code="t">Bridging the gap.</subfield><subfield code="d">Winona Lake, Ind. : Eisenbrauns, 2007</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2006103188</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Bulletin for biblical research supplements ;</subfield><subfield code="v">1.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2007140512</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=448617</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="936" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">BATCHLOAD</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest Ebook Central</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL3155494</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10483342</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">448617</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Project MUSE</subfield><subfield code="b">MUSE</subfield><subfield code="n">musev2_80938</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">7116006</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |
