Zusammenfassung: | "This volume argues that the commitment to justice is a fundamental motive and that, although it is typically portrayed as serving self-interest, it sometimes takes priority over self-interest. To make this case, the authors discuss the way justice emerges as a personal contract in children's development; review a wide range of research studying the influences of the justice motive on evaluative, emotional, and behavioral responses; and detail common experiences that illustrate the impact of the justice motive. Through an extensive critique of the research on which some alternative models of justice are based, the authors present a model that describes the ways in which motives of justice and self-interest are integrated in people's lives. They close with a discussion of some positive and negative consequences of the commitment to justice."-- |

They close with a discussion of some positive and negative consequences of the commitment to justice."--</subfield><subfield code="c">Provided by publisher</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="588" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Print version record.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Social justice.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85123969</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Justice.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85071118</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Self-interest.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85119765</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Justice sociale.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Justice.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Intérêt personnel.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SOCIAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">General.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Justice</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Self-interest</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Social justice</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Sociale rechtvaardigheid.</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Eigenbelang.</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">dissertations.</subfield><subfield code="2">aat</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Academic theses</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Academic theses.</subfield><subfield code="2">lcgft</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026039</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Thèses et écrits académiques.</subfield><subfield code="2">rvmgf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Clayton, Susan D.,</subfield><subfield code="d">1960-</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCjKp4VqTMMkPjjRfPP4Vfm</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n92063813</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Justice and self-interest (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCGrhdpkRJyxh3PFgXDV3cP</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Lerner, Melvin J., 1929-</subfield><subfield code="t">Justice and self-interest.</subfield><subfield code="d">Cambridge ; New York : Cambridge University Press, 2011</subfield><subfield code="z">9781107002333</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2010034220</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)658117284</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=366159</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Coutts Information Services</subfield><subfield code="b">COUT</subfield><subfield code="n">17935803</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10470710</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">366159</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Contesting the primacy of self-interest -- Why does justice matter?: the development of a personal contract -- Commitment to justice: the initial primary automatic reaction -- Explaining the myth of self-interest -- Defining the justice motive: re-integrating procedural and distributive justice -- How people assess deservingness and justice: the role of social norms -- Integrating justice and self-interest: a tentative model -- Maintaining the commitment to justice in a complex world -- Bringing it closer to home: justice in another 'American tragedy' -- Emotional aftereffects: some negative consequences and thoughts on how to avoid them. "This volume argues that the commitment to justice is a fundamental motive and that, although it is typically portrayed as serving self-interest, it sometimes takes priority over self-interest.
