Zusammenfassung: | "Democracy is not just a matter of constitutions, parliaments, elections, parties, and the rule of law. In order to see if or how democracy works, we must attend to what people make of it, and what they think they are doing as they engage with politics, or as politics engages them. This book examines the way democracy and democratization are thought about and lived by people in China, Russia, and eleven other countries in the post-communist world. It shows how democratic politics (and sometimes authoritarian politics) works in these countries, and generates insights into the prospects for different kinds of political development. The authors explore the implications for what is probable and possible in terms of trajectories of political reform, and examine four roads to democratization: liberal, republican, participatory, and statist. The book will be of interest to students and scholars of comparative politics, political theory, and post-communist studies."--Jacket. |

The book will be of interest to students and scholars of comparative politics, political theory, and post-communist studies."--Jacket.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Post-communism</subfield><subfield code="z">Europe, Eastern.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Democratization</subfield><subfield code="z">Europe, Eastern.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Europe, Eastern</subfield><subfield code="x">Politics and government</subfield><subfield code="y">1989-</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh90000580</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Postcommunisme</subfield><subfield code="z">Europe de l'Est.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Démocratisation</subfield><subfield code="z">Europe de l'Est.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Europe de l'Est</subfield><subfield code="x">Politique et gouvernement</subfield><subfield code="y">1989-</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Political Process</subfield><subfield code="x">General.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Democratization</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Politics and government</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Post-communism</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Eastern Europe</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="648" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Since 1989</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Samfundsvidenskab</subfield><subfield code="a">Politologi.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Electronic books.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Electronic books.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Holmes, Leslie.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Dryzek, John S., 1953-</subfield><subfield code="t">Postcommunist democratization.</subfield><subfield code="d">New York : Cambridge University Press, ©2002</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2001043249</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Theories of institutional design.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n94029785</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=112600</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH13419963</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10019058</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">112600</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">2300726</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Pre-transition countries -- Halting transitions -- Transition torn by war -- Late developers -- Trailblazers. Print version record. "Democracy is not just a matter of constitutions, parliaments, elections, parties, and the rule of law. English. Post-communism Europe, Eastern.
