Zusammenfassung: | "Concentrating on Klesel's role in Franz Grillparzer's Ein Bruderzwist in Habsburg, William Reeve argues that Klesel represents the culmination of a literary type - the Federfuchser, or pen-pushing secretary. Evolving out of the political and social conditions of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the secretary is an intellectually gifted individual who acts as the agent of a less gifted, usually aristocratic, patron. In the secretary's hand, the pen proves mightier than the sword." "Reeve provides a detailed discussion of Klesel's importance in Ein Bruderzwist in Habsburg and examines possible predecessors for the Federfuchser: Wurm from Friedrich von Schiller's Kabale und Liebe, the Sekretar in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Die naturliche Tochter, and Leonhard in Friedrich Hebbel's Maria Magdalene. He focuses on the features they share, such as deep-seated resentment of social superiors who, by a mere accident of birth, have power over them and, above all, the cunning that they use to overcome their social disqualifications."--Jacket |

He focuses on the features they share, such as deep-seated resentment of social superiors who, by a mere accident of birth, have power over them and, above all, the cunning that they use to overcome their social disqualifications."--Jacket</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Grillparzer, Franz,</subfield><subfield code="d">1791-1872.</subfield><subfield code="t">Bruderzwist in Habsburg.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Grillparzer, Franz,</subfield><subfield code="d">1791-1872.</subfield><subfield code="t">Bruderzwist in Habsburg.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Secretaries in literature.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh94009227</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">German drama</subfield><subfield code="y">18th century</subfield><subfield code="x">History and criticism.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">German drama</subfield><subfield code="y">19th century</subfield><subfield code="x">History and criticism.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Secrétaires dans la littérature.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Théâtre allemand</subfield><subfield code="y">18e siècle</subfield><subfield code="x">Histoire et critique.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Théâtre allemand</subfield><subfield code="y">19e siècle</subfield><subfield code="x">Histoire et critique.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">DRAMA</subfield><subfield code="x">Continental European.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LITERARY CRITICISM</subfield><subfield code="x">European</subfield><subfield code="x">German.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">German drama</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Secretaries in literature</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="648" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">1700-1899</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Electronic books.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Criticism, interpretation, etc.</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">The Federfuchser/penpusher from Lessing to Grillparzer (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCGb9qJWddyM47DKpbJpybd</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Reeve, William C.</subfield><subfield code="t">Federfuchser/Penpusher from Lessing to Grillparzer : A Study Focused on Grillparzer's Ein Bruderzwist in habsburg.</subfield><subfield code="d">Montreal : McGill-Queen's University Press, ©2014</subfield><subfield code="z">9780773512986</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=404154</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Canadian Electronic Library</subfield><subfield code="b">CELB</subfield><subfield code="n">10138980</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL3331500</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10138980</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">404154</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest MyiLibrary Digital eBook Collection</subfield><subfield code="b">IDEB</subfield><subfield code="n">285743</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |
