Zusammenfassung: | "World political processes, such as wars and globalization, are engendered by complex sets of causes and conditions. Although the idea of causation is fundamental to the field of International Relations, what the concept of cause means or entails has remained an unresolved and contested matter. In recent decades ferocious debates have surrounded the idea of causal analysis, some scholars even questioning the legitimacy of applying the notion of cause in the study of International Relations. This book suggests that underlying the debates on causation in the field of International Relations is a set of problematic assumptions (deterministic, mechanistic and empiricist) and that we should reclaim causal analysis from the dominant discourse of causation. Milja Kurki argues that reinterpreting the meaning, aims and methods of social scientific causal analysis opens up multi-causal and methodologically pluralist avenues for future International Relations scholarship."--Jacket |

political processes, such as wars and globalization, are engendered by complex sets of causes and conditions. Milja Kurki argues that reinterpreting the meaning, aims and methods of social scientific causal analysis opens up multi-causal and methodologically pluralist avenues for future International Relations scholarship."--Jacket</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">International relations</subfield><subfield code="x">Study and teaching.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">International relations</subfield><subfield code="x">Research.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">International relations</subfield><subfield code="x">Philosophy.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009127460</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Relations internationales</subfield><subfield code="x">Étude et enseignement.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Relations internationales</subfield><subfield code="x">Recherche.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Globalization.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">International relations</subfield><subfield code="x">Philosophy</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">International relations</subfield><subfield code="x">Research</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">International relations</subfield><subfield code="x">Study and teaching</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Electronic books.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Electronic books.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Causation in international relations (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCG7BKQGwqYydTmVRGTPPcP</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Kurki, Milja.</subfield><subfield code="t">Causation in international relations.</subfield><subfield code="d">Cambridge ; Print version record. "World political processes, such as wars and globalization, are engendered by complex sets of causes and conditions.
