Zusammenfassung: | "David Hume's Dialogues concerning Natural Religion, first published in 1779, is one of the most influential works in the philosophy of religion and the most artful instance of philosophical dialogue since the dialogues of Plato. It presents a fictional conversation between a skeptic, an orthodox Christian, and a Newtonian theist concerning evidence for the existence of an intelligent cause of nature based on observable features of the world. This new edition presents it together with several of Hume's other, shorter writings about religion, and with brief selections from the work of Pierre Bayle, who influenced both Hume's views on religion and the dialectical style of the Dialogues. The volume is completed by an introduction which sets the Dialogues in its philosophical and historical contexts."--Jacket |

Religion, first published in 1779, is one of the most influential works in the philosophy of religion and the most artful instance of philosophical dialogue since the dialogues of Plato. The volume is completed by an introduction which sets the Dialogues in its philosophical and historical contexts."--Jacket</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Natural theology</subfield><subfield code="v">Early works to 1800.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Religion</subfield><subfield code="v">Early works to 1800.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Théologie naturelle</subfield><subfield code="v">Ouvrages avant 1800.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Religion</subfield><subfield code="v">Ouvrages avant 1800.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">RELIGION</subfield><subfield code="x">Philosophy.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Natural theology</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Religion</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Religionsphilosophie</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="0">http://d-nb.info/gnd/4049415-9</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">religion (discipline)</subfield><subfield code="2">aat</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Early works</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Coleman, Dorothy,</subfield><subfield code="d">1954-</subfield><subfield code="e">editor.</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCjHkywMxMFVk9Q9RqTBRqP</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2006055114</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Dialogues concerning natural religion and other writings (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCGcQXdY7YP7kGvgmCdgKbd</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Hume, David, 1711-1776.</subfield><subfield code="t">Dialogues concerning natural religion and other writings.</subfield><subfield code="d">Cambridge, UK ; New York, NY : Cambridge University Press, 2007</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2006023590</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Cambridge texts in the history of philosophy.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n95027802</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=194288</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH22947885</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10172466</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">194288</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest MyiLibrary Digital eBook Collection</subfield><subfield code="b">IDEB</subfield><subfield code="n">85059</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">2634259</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">2592958</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">2620394</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">9247090</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Dialogues concerning natural religion -- Pamphilus to Hermippus -- From Hume's memoranda -- Fragment on evil -- Letter to Francis Hutcheson -- Letter to William Mure -- Letters to Gilbert Elliot -- From the natural history of religion -- Selections from Pierre Bayle. Description based on print version record; title from digital title page (viewed on December 8, 2023). "David Hume's Dialogues concerning Natural Religion, first published in 1779, is one of the most influential works in the philosophy of religion and the most artful instance of philosophical dialogue since the dialogues of Plato. The volume is completed by an introduction which sets the Dialogues in its philosophical and historical contexts."--Jacket Natural theology Early works to 1800. Religion Early works to 1800.
