Zusammenfassung: | In an in-depth comparative and long-term analysis, first published in 2004, Daniele Caramani studies the macro-historical process of the nationalization of politics. Using a great wealth of data on single constituencies in seventeen West European countries, he reconstructs the territorial structures of electoral support for political parties, as well as their evolution since the mid-nineteenth century from highly fragmented politics in the early stages toward nation-wide alignments. Caramani provides a multi-pronged empirical analysis through time, across countries, and between party families. |

Daniele Caramani studies the macro-historical process of the nationalization of politics. Using a great wealth of data on single constituencies in seventeen West European countries, he reconstructs the territorial structures of electoral support for political parties, as well as their evolution since the mid-nineteenth century from highly fragmented politics in the early stages toward nation-wide alignments. Caramani provides a multi-pronged empirical analysis through time, across countries, and between party families.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Elections</subfield><subfield code="z">Europe, Western.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Political parties</subfield><subfield code="z">Europe, Western.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Élections</subfield><subfield code="z">Europe de l'Ouest.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Partis politiques</subfield><subfield code="z">Europe de l'Ouest.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Political Process</subfield><subfield code="x">General.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">POLITICAL SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Political Process</subfield><subfield code="x">Elections.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Elections</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Political parties</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Western Europe</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Verkiezingen.</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Politieke partijen.</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Natievorming.</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Vergelijkend onderzoek.</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">The nationalization of politics (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCFB7f44QcCJp49XYGXhY6C</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Caramani, Danièle.</subfield><subfield code="t">Nationalization of politics.</subfield><subfield code="d">Cambridge, UK ; In an in-depth comparative and long-term analysis, first published in 2004, Daniele Caramani studies the macro-historical process of the nationalization of politics. Elections Europe, Western. Political parties Europe, Western.
