Zusammenfassung: | "Buying Time and Getting By provides a detailed account of the voluntary simplicity movement, which took off in the United States in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The concept of voluntary simplicity encompasses both self-change aimed at bringing personal practice into alignment with ecological values and cultural change that rejects consumerist values and careerism. While simple livers struggle with self-change, they work toward the broader goals of a sustainable global environment, sustainable communities, increased equality in access to resources, and economies aimed at human quality of life rather then profit. Author Mary Grigsby looks inside the movement at the daily lives of participants and includes their own accounts of their efforts. She also uses reflexive empirical analysis to explore race, class, and gender in relation to the movement. The influence of the dominant culture and institutionalized power in shaping the movement are balanced with the importance of participants' dynamic identity work."--Jacket |

The influence of the dominant culture and institutionalized power in shaping the movement are balanced with the importance of participants' dynamic identity work."--Jacket</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Voluntary simplicity movement.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2003005818</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Simplicité volontaire.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SELF-HELP</subfield><subfield code="x">Personal Growth</subfield><subfield code="x">Happiness.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Voluntary simplicity movement</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Buying time and getting by (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCGPbVQtgmXfF9xvHkX6c8C</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Grigsby, Mary, 1952-</subfield><subfield code="t">Buying time and getting by.</subfield><subfield code="d">Albany, NY : State University of New York Press, ©2004</subfield><subfield code="z">0791459993</subfield><subfield code="z">0791460002</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2003050529</subfield><subfield code="w">(OCoLC)52203036</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Book collections on Project MUSE.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=127095</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL3408540</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ebrary</subfield><subfield code="b">EBRY</subfield><subfield code="n">ebr10594868</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">127095</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Project MUSE</subfield><subfield code="b">MUSE</subfield><subfield code="n">muse6118</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">9635447</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">2354182</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |
