Zusammenfassung: | What are the main challenges of computational molecular biology once the genome projects are completed? Integrative Approaches to Molecular Biology focuses on molecular biology beyond sequences: from gene regulation to differentiation, a higher-level integration that will be a major theme in biology following conclusion of the genome program. It charts the course of the emerging discipline of integrative molecular biology from macromolecular sequences to a biological (and theoretical) perspective, showing that novel integrative methodologies and paradigms are emerging at the confluence of such disciplines as computer science, logic, linguistics, and mathematics. Following an introductory chapter by Richard Lewontin that offers a critique of the evolutionary process as one of engineering design, the first part of the book, on computational biology, addresses issues concerning protein and DNA sequences within genome projects and a federated infrastructure for databases. The second part brings together experimental, evolutionary, computational, and theoretical approaches dealing with regulation of gene expression, metabolic pathways, and cell differentiation. The book concludes with a chapter on problems and perspectives on artificial intelligence. |

The book concludes with a chapter on problems and perspectives on artificial intelligence.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="546" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">English.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Molecular biology</subfield><subfield code="v">Congresses.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Molecular Biology</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Biologie moléculaire</subfield><subfield code="v">Congrès.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">SCIENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Life Sciences</subfield><subfield code="x">Molecular Biology.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Molecular biology</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Molekularbiologie</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="0">http://d-nb.info/gnd/4039983-7</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Kongress</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="0">http://d-nb.info/gnd/4130470-6</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Moleculaire biologie.</subfield><subfield code="2">gtt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Molecular biology</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Congress</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">proceedings (reports)</subfield><subfield code="2">aat</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Conference papers and proceedings</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Conference papers and proceedings.</subfield><subfield code="2">lcgft</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026068</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Actes de congrès.</subfield><subfield code="2">rvmgf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Collado-Vides, Julio.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Magasanik, Boris.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Smith, Temple.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">Integrative approaches to molecular biology (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCH4q4QBRQ8d7RTbtKr7wkC</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="t">Integrative approaches to molecular biology.</subfield><subfield code="d">Cambridge, Mass. : MIT Press, ©1996</subfield><subfield code="z">0262032392</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=48796</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="936" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">BATCHLOAD</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Askews and Holts Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">ASKH</subfield><subfield code="n">AH37586305</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">48796</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Internet Archive</subfield><subfield code="b">INAR</subfield><subfield code="n">integrativeappro0000coll</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">10832801</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">2323403</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

What are the main challenges of computational molecular biology once the genome projects are completed? Integrative Approaches to Molecular Biology focuses on molecular biology beyond sequences: from gene regulation to differentiation, a higher-level integration that will be a major theme in biology following conclusion of the genome program. It charts the course of the emerging discipline of integrative molecular biology from macromolecular sequences to a biological (and theoretical) perspective, showing that novel integrative methodologies and paradigms are emerging at the confluence of such disciplines as computer science, logic, linguistics, and mathematics.
