Zusammenfassung:This article provides a detailed analysis of policy evaluation frameworks in five OECD countries (Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States), with a focus on the institutionalisation, the quality and the use of evaluation across government. It discusses how the evaluation function is regulated and organised in these countries. In addition, the article provides insights on the relevant conditions to set up and develop a sound evaluation system, through capacity building activities, quality assurance and control mechanisms, data availability and the use of evaluations.
