Zusammenfassung:This publication originated during The Bakersfield Fan Forum, an exhibition, workshop, and event series that took place at the Todd Madigan Gallery (California State University, Bakersfield) from August to December 2016. The Poetic Research Bureau, represented by Joseph Mosconi, was invited to hold a semester-long residency on fandom and art in close relation to self-publishing: "The concepts of ‘the fan,’ ‘the amateur’ and the ‘self-published writer’ have often been denigrated and ridiculed in popular culture and the mass media. ... In this context, Mosconi hosted a workshop with students to create print-on-demand books on the subject. BFF/PRB #1 is the first in a series of five, produced by Mosconi himself. It consists of "lecture notes, textual ephemera, poor images, juvenilia, rejected poems and outtakes" and served as "a moodboard and skeleton-key for Mosconi’s forthcoming book Ashen Folk" (blurb on Blurb). ...
