Zusammenfassung:It is well-known that the German art market after 1945 was characterised by great continuity and that many art dealers seamlessly transitioned from the Nazi art trade to the post-war art trade. When Benno Griebert started as an art dealer with his own business in 1949, he was only able to establish himself as a newcomer with the support of recognised dealers such as Kunsthandlung Julius Böhler. Looking at the business relationship between Griebert and Böhler between 1951 and 1964, this paper exemplifies how new and established market players in the post-war art market benefited from each other. Joint transactions also included Nazi-looted art (sometimes already restituted) – not, however, because the two dealers had themselves been involved in the looting but because the respective artworks soon entered the art market after 1945.
