Zusammenfassung:The Kestner-Museum acquired 40 works of art from the Kunsthandlung Julius Böhler in Munich between 1907 and 1965. Those from the Oppenheim, Stumm, Goldschmidt and Ullmann collections are examined in more detail in this article, focusing on the question whether these art objects were purchased within Nazi persecution contexts. Firstly, this question requires an identity examination of all the previous owners of these art objects. In three cases, it was possible to prove they were persecuted by the Nazi government in Germany. However, the historical circumstances in which the artworks were handed over lead sometimes to other conclusions. Nonetheless, the diversity and variability of these acquisitions and their relation to the context of Nazi persecution are very important for historical education programs today.
