Zusammenfassung:The relationship between the Bavarian State Collections and the Julius Böhler art dealership was multifaceted, especially when Ernst Buchner was in office. The paper explores this relationship and asks to which extent the various interactions are reflected in the museum’s database MuseumPlus and in Böhler re:search. A screening of the entries in the museum database indicates that the number of objects which are directly linked to Böhler clearly rose when Ernst Buchner became General Director of the Bavarian State Collections in 1933. Almost half of the transactions between the institutions was done by him, mainly in the form of exchanges. Seen from the perspective of the museum, and compared with other art dealers, Böhler is top of the list. It is, however, difficult to extract exact figures from Böhler re:search, as index cards can contain several objects. Further more, the sometimes very complex nature of the transactions and barters poses serious challenges for database structures. Notwithstanding these restrictions, the paper con cludes that both databases confirm and complement each other meaningfully.
