| Zusammenfassung: | This chapter describes an innovative training model for exhibition makers that began in 1993 in Buenos Aires. It was created to support the building of museums and exhibitions through skill sharing and collective discussions among museum professionals and the communities involved. This new model of professional training has been supported by Antorchas and TyPA, two Argentine-based foundations. Today, more than 500 museum professionals from different parts of South America have gone through the exercise and now have the tools to apply their knowledge to their own museums and communities. An emerging objective is to design mobile constructions and experiences at places familiar to the communities who do not normally attend museums but where they may feel at home as stakeholders of those spaces. This chapter will explore the history of this collaborative exhibition design workshop model, through its foundation in 1993 to the present day. It will reflect on the key contributions of the model, its alliances, and outcomes, as well as the challenges that have been faced over time. |
