Zusammenfassung: | "This is the first interdisciplinary collection to analyse the place of Romanies and Travellers within contemporary Europe through the lens of gender and violence. In hospitals, schools and social assistance centres, in encounters with humanitarian agencies and the police, and in media and state representations, violence against Romanies and Travellers is always gendered. The contributors disentangle the array of relations, expectations and beliefs that make gendered violences against Romanies and Travellers appear necessary, unavoidable, or appropriate. They examine forms of gendered violence that may develop within Romani and Traveller communities against this framework of oppression and attrition. The volume foregrounds the methodological and ethical challenges involved in researching gendered violences in Romani and Traveller contexts, questioning the relationships between gender, violence and other experiences and concepts such as marginalisation, oppression, exclusion, harm, slow death, social suffering and necropolitics. The volume is grounded in reflexive feminist standpoints with a collaborative ethos that offers proposals for further analysis, policy development and engaged practice. It contributes to the theorising of gendered violence in the social sciences by assessing dominant models and perspectives in the light of overlooked Romani and Traveller experiences, and is particularly relevant to scholars from anthropology, gender studies, sociology, and social work"-- |

It contributes to the theorising of gendered violence in the social sciences by assessing dominant models and perspectives in the light of overlooked Romani and Traveller experiences, and is particularly relevant to scholars from anthropology, gender studies, sociology, and social work"-- Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Qualitative Methode (DE-588)4137346-7 gnd rswk-swf Symbolische Gewalt (DE-588)7621884-3 gnd rswk-swf Nomade (DE-588)4042452-2 gnd rswk-swf Empirische Sozialforschung (DE-588)4014606-6 gnd rswk-swf Strukturelle Gewalt (DE-588)4058132-9 gnd rswk-swf Dilemma (DE-588)4201195-4 gnd rswk-swf Ethik (DE-588)4015602-3 gnd rswk-swf Roma Volk (DE-588)4050473-6 gnd rswk-swf Romanies / Violence against / Europe Irish Travellers (Nomadic people) / Violence against Gender-based violence / Europe Tsiganes / Violence envers / Europe Voyageurs irlandais (Nomades) / Violence envers (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Roma Volk (DE-588)4050473-6 s Nomade (DE-588)4042452-2 s Symbolische Gewalt (DE-588)7621884-3 s Strukturelle Gewalt (DE-588)4058132-9 s Geschichte z DE-604 Empirische Sozialforschung (DE-588)4014606-6 s Qualitative Methode (DE-588)4137346-7 s Dilemma (DE-588)4201195-4 s Ethik (DE-588)4015602-3 s Gay y Blasco, Paloma (DE-588)137012365 edt Sarafian, Iliana (DE-588)1299772161 edt Roman, Raluca edt Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-1-032-62928-5 Abingdon, Oxon ; New York, NY : Routledge, 2024 |
