The new edition will include updated analyses of how institutions of American higher education are responding and adapting to the fourth industrial revolution, how colleges and universities are working to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, the increasing prevalence of public-private partnerships and college/university involvement in economic development initiatives, how various types of institutions are shedding historical precedent to educate students and train workers in new ways, and how credit for prior learning, self-paced learning modules, micro-certifications, and other educational credentials are allowing colleges and universities to move away from their historical attachment to the credit hour as the main unit of measuring student progress.
