Zusammenfassung:Since 2015 I have been sharing an old depiction of a European tornado or waterspout on my personal website every week. I became fascinated with these old drawings and diagrams whilst working on a scientific article summarising what we know about these weather phenomena in Europe since the nineteenth century. I am lucky enough that my job - I am a research scientist studying thunderstorms - allows me to rediscover such amazing things about the history of extreme weather events.Over the past six months, I have been working hard to find and select the best quality images and most interesting examples of these fascinating extreme weather events. I have extensively researched the history behind the pictures and condensed the information into interesting descriptions to accompany each image. The book has 100 pages and contains 38 depictions of tornadoes and waterspouts. The depictions chosen for this book range from the most extraordinarily beautiful to those that can shed light on how our understanding of tornadoes evolved in time, from those used as illustrations in scientific articles to those used as illustrations in children's books. Each full page spread shows the image on one side with the description, comments, footnotes, and other information on the other side.
