Zusammenfassung:The book addresses the progress and resilience of firms and households in Tanzania. How has growth, access to (export) markets and interlinkages helped establish resilience for firms? What are the key variations in households’ income sources and how has this impacted their welfare? Firms need to increase competitiveness and productivity, and this enables households to increase income and welfare. The book addresses how the ability to navigate successfully through shocks and a changing economic environment has improved since about 2000 and draws lessons for managing and recovering from shocks, including the global COVID-19 pandemic. Successful firms access technology, innovation, markets, and linkages through networks, clusters, export diversification, and integration in local, regional, and global value chains. The sustainable development of households requires access to new sources of income and financial access.
