Zusammenfassung: | "This book provides a comprehensive overview of the political impact of the COVID-19 emergency in central and eastern Europe and Eurasia. Offering a theoretical framework linking the authoritarian, post-Soviet institutional legacy with patterns of political behavior, support, and governments' policies, the expert contributors argue that domestic political regimes mediate and shape citizens' perceptions of public health crises, and the very regimes' political survival. The authors explore how the pandemic affected regime change, government stability, business groups and civil societies in more than 15 countries of the region from the discovery of the virus to the vaccination rollout. The studies rely on a broad range of empirical evidence from the region - survey, state statistics, ethnography and interviews. Formulating, explaining and empirically testing the causal mechanisms that drive political accountability and support through a cross-country comparison and in-depth case studies of popular and electoral support attempting to highlight any patterns specific to the region, the book contributes to studies of governance and political accountability in low-trust countries with authoritarian legacies and proclivities. Drawing on an inter-disciplinary approach that brings together area studies, history, sociology, and political science it will also be of value to those interested in systematic effect of political regimes on handling public health crises"-- |

Drawing on an inter-disciplinary approach that brings together area studies, history, sociology, and political science it will also be of value to those interested in systematic effect of political regimes on handling public health crises"-- COVID-19 (DE-588)1206347392 gnd rswk-swf Gesundheitspolitik (DE-588)4113743-7 gnd rswk-swf Pandemie (DE-588)4737034-8 gnd rswk-swf Osteuropa (DE-588)4075739-0 gnd rswk-swf Mittelasien (DE-588)4039661-7 gnd rswk-swf COVID-19 Pandemic, 2020- / Political aspects / Europe, Eastern COVID-19 Pandemic, 2020- / Political aspects / Eurasia COVID-19 (Disease) / Government policy / Europe, Eastern COVID-19 (Disease) / Government policy / Eurasia Pandémie de COVID-19, 2020- / Aspect politique / Europe de l'Est Pandémie de COVID-19, 2020- / Aspect politique / Eurasie COVID-19 / Politique gouvernementale / Europe de l'Est COVID-19 / Politique gouvernementale / Eurasie COVID-19 (Disease) / Government policy Eastern Europe Eurasia Since 2020 (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Osteuropa (DE-588)4075739-0 g Mittelasien (DE-588)4039661-7 g COVID-19 (DE-588)1206347392 s Pandemie (DE-588)4737034-8 s Gesundheitspolitik (DE-588)4113743-7 s DE-604 Zavadskaya, Margarita (DE-588)1144201543 edt Archipova, Aleksandra Sergeevna (DE-588)143215604 aut Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 978-1-032-42913-7 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-1-032-42877-2 (DE-604)BV049501442 https://doi.org/10.4324/9781003364870 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
