Zusammenfassung: | "This series explores the developments of cultures and civilisations from the Lower Paleolithic to the Iron Age in the region of the Oxus Basin and its environs. Situated at the crossroads of Middle Eastern, Iranian, Indian, and Chinese cultures, and at the interface between agrarian societies and steppe stock breeding cultures, this area played a central original role in long-distance exchange networks across Eurasia long before the Silk Roads. The exploitation of unique local natural resources, from lapis lazuli, tin, and jade, to camels and horses, boosted trade, migrations, and conquests, and the region nurtured the original models of Neolithisation, and of Chalcolithic, Bronze, and Iron Age cultures up to the Achaemenid empire and the Scythian cultures. OXUS welcomes monographs and edited collections dedicated to a range of subjects, including archaeology and archaeological sciences, ancient history, epigraphy, paleo-economics, and ancient art history, as well as studies of theory and methodology. Together with its companion series ARATTA, ARAXES, LEMA, and SUBARTU, OXUS forms part of theARWA collection associated with the International Association for Archaeological Research in Western & Central Asia." |
