Zusammenfassung: | "This volume introduces students to the history of cultural and theological responses to abortion as background for understanding a diversity of ethical positions in contemporary Christian, Jewish, and Muslim writings. Politicized debates about abortion are often presented in terms of a binary rhetoric of prolife versus prochoice; however, this collection of essays shows how that binary often breaks down when abortion is seen from different religious perspectives and in light of the voices of women themselves. While abortion is a global phenomenon, this volume focuses on the U.S. context. American abortion politics and culture wars have been dominated by Christian voices; nevertheless, Jewish and Muslim abortion ethics engage many of the same issues from different cultural and religious perspectives. Finally, this volume presents important examples of recent social scientific studies about the relationship of religion and abortion in the diverse cultural, racial, and economic fabric of American society. Pedagogical features include: - boxed text sections with primary sources - introductions to each part of the book - questions for a discussion - key terms in bold"-- |

Kamitsuka Reader in abortion and religion London ; New York ; Oxford ; New Delhi ; Sydney Bloomsbury Academic 2023 xv, 452 Seiten txt rdacontent n rdamedia nc rdacarrier T&T Clark theology Includes bibliographical references and index "This volume introduces students to the history of cultural and theological responses to abortion as background for understanding a diversity of ethical positions in contemporary Christian, Jewish, and Muslim writings. Pedagogical features include: - boxed text sections with primary sources - introductions to each part of the book - questions for a discussion - key terms in bold"-- Archivierung/Langzeitarchivierung gewährleistet FID pdager DE-21 Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Generatives Verhalten (DE-588)4020118-1 gnd rswk-swf Interdisziplinäre Forschung (DE-588)4027274-6 gnd rswk-swf Religion (DE-588)4049396-9 gnd rswk-swf Judentum (DE-588)4114087-4 gnd rswk-swf Ethik (DE-588)4015602-3 gnd rswk-swf Lebensschutz Ethik (DE-588)4225978-2 gnd rswk-swf Islam (DE-588)4027743-4 gnd rswk-swf Internationaler Vergleich (DE-588)4120509-1 gnd rswk-swf Gesetzgebung (DE-588)4020682-8 gnd rswk-swf Christentum (DE-588)4010074-1 gnd rswk-swf Person (DE-588)4134819-9 gnd rswk-swf Menschenwürde (DE-588)4038654-5 gnd rswk-swf Schwangerschaftsabbruch (DE-588)4053732-8 gnd rswk-swf Embryo (DE-588)4014555-4 gnd rswk-swf Religionsvergleich (DE-588)4249306-7 gnd rswk-swf Kontroverse (DE-588)4128337-5 gnd rswk-swf Abortion / Religious aspects / Christianity Abortion / Religious aspects / Judaism Abortion / Religious aspects / Islam (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Schwangerschaftsabbruch (DE-588)4053732-8 s Lebensschutz Ethik (DE-588)4225978-2 s Ethik (DE-588)4015602-3 s Judentum (DE-588)4114087-4 s Christentum (DE-588)4010074-1 s Islam (DE-588)4027743-4 s Religionsvergleich (DE-588)4249306-7 s Internationaler Vergleich (DE-588)4120509-1 s DE-604 Gesetzgebung (DE-588)4020682-8 s Kontroverse (DE-588)4128337-5 s Embryo (DE-588)4014555-4 s Person (DE-588)4134819-9 s Menschenwürde (DE-588)4038654-5 s Religion (DE-588)4049396-9 s Interdisziplinäre Forschung (DE-588)4027274-6 s Generatives Verhalten (DE-588)4020118-1 s Geschichte z Peters, Rebecca Todd 1967- (DE-588)133237192 edt Kamitsuka, Margaret D.
