Zusammenfassung: | "In A Nimble Arc Emilie Boone considers James Van Der Zee's photographic work across the twentieth century-from his early years in Harlem to the moment of the Harlem on my Mind exhibit-to foreground aspects of Black quotidian life. Boone theorizes 'nimble' to describe the ease of movement with which one must transition between art history and vernacular photography when considering Van Der Zee and his work. While Van Der Zee is lauded for his role in the Harlem Renaissance and his late-career portrait of Jean-Michel Basquiat, his studio played a major role in the Black community for decades, photographing ordinary people and events in ways that have been mostly overlooked. Boone's account recasts our understanding not only of this canonical figure, but of photography in Black life more generally"-- |

To Nimbly Rewind "In A Nimble Arc Emilie Boone considers James Van Der Zee's photographic work across the twentieth century-from his early years in Harlem to the moment of the Harlem on my Mind exhibit-to foreground aspects of Black quotidian life. Boone's account recasts our understanding not only of this canonical figure, but of photography in Black life more generally"-- Van der Zee, James 1886-1983 (DE-588)119182394 gnd rswk-swf New York- Harlem Motiv (DE-588)4556614-8 gnd rswk-swf Fotografie (DE-588)4045895-7 gnd rswk-swf Dokumentarfotografie (DE-588)4142019-6 gnd rswk-swf Schwarze Motiv (DE-588)4116434-9 gnd rswk-swf New York NY, Motiv (DE-588)4115380-7 gnd rswk-swf Auswanderer Motiv (DE-588)4193657-7 gnd rswk-swf Auswanderung (DE-588)4003920-1 gnd rswk-swf Porträtfotografie (DE-588)4046840-9 gnd rswk-swf New York- Harlem (DE-588)4075363-3 gnd rswk-swf USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf Afrika (DE-588)4000695-5 gnd rswk-swf Van Der Zee, James / 1886-1983 Photography, Artistic Portrait photography Harlem Renaissance African American photographers / United States / Biography Portrait photographers / United States / Biography Photographie artistique Portraits (Photographie) Photographes noirs américains / États-Unis / Biographies Photographes portraitistes / États-Unis / Biographies art photography PHOTOGRAPHY / Individual Photographers / General SOCIAL SCIENCE / Ethnic Studies / American / African American & Black Studies African American photographers Portrait photographers United States Electronic books Biographies Afrika (DE-588)4000695-5 g Van der Zee, James 1886-1983 (DE-588)119182394 p Auswanderer Motiv (DE-588)4193657-7 s New York NY, Motiv (DE-588)4115380-7 s Schwarze Motiv (DE-588)4116434-9 s DE-604 USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Porträtfotografie (DE-588)4046840-9 s Fotografie (DE-588)4045895-7 s New York- Harlem Motiv (DE-588)4556614-8 s Auswanderung (DE-588)4003920-1 s Dokumentarfotografie (DE-588)4142019-6 s New York- Harlem (DE-588)4075363-3 g Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 9781478027164 (DE-604)BV049341168 V:DE-604 application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=034739526&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
