Un’ulteriore singola eccezione, meritevole per la sua importanza, è registrata alla voce Scelta politica — vale a dire: politica’ in quanto passibile di scelta. Un’azione obbligata non è politica, e chi combatte per la sopravvivenza non conduce una lotta politica, bensì “assoluta” (p. 128 nota 12). Questa precoce (1808) implicita smentita della formula arcinota trova una conferma altrettanto implicita nella reticente asserzione del sesto libro del Trattato:
secondo cui il concetto originario della guerra non consiste nell’attacco, bensì nella difesa che «ha per scopo assoluto la lotta» (qui a p. 175). Nello spazio di vent’anni questa lotta rimane “assoluta”, anche nel senso che l’idea non conosce svolgimento nel pensiero. Questi due granelli segnarono il mio trapasso dalla lettura degli scritti ai veri e propri studi, dei quali l’idea d’una “politica in re” fu infine l’esito.

Un’ulteriore singola eccezione, meritevole per la sua importanza, è registrata alla voce Scelta politica — vale a dire: politica’ in quanto passibile di scelta. Un’azione obbligata non è politica, e chi combatte per la sopravvivenza non conduce una lotta politica, bensì “assoluta” (p. 128 nota 12). Questa precoce (1808) implicita smentita della formula arcinota trova una conferma altrettanto implicita nella reticente asserzione del sesto libro del Trattato:
secondo cui il concetto originario della guerra non consiste nell’attacco, bensì nella difesa che «ha per scopo assoluto la lotta» (qui a p. 175). Nello spazio di vent’anni questa lotta rimane “assoluta”, anche nel senso che l’idea non conosce svolgimento nel pensiero. Questi due granelli segnarono il mio trapasso dalla lettura degli scritti ai veri e propri studi, dei quali l’idea d’una “politica in re” fu infine l’esito.
