Zusammenfassung: | "This book examines the role of disability in the right to political and social participation, an act of citizenship that many disabled people do not enjoy. The disability rights movement does not accept the use of disability to create limits on citizenship, which poses challenges for contemporary societies that will become ever greater as the science and technology of enhancing human abilities evolves. Comprised of eight chapters, four interludes, and a postscript written by leading scholars and disability rights activists, the book explores citizenship for people with disabilities from an interdisciplinary perspective using the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD) as a point of departure and the concept of universal design as a strategy for actualizing full citizenship for all. Situating disability in its historical and cultural contexts, the authors offer directions for rethinking citizenship, including implications for access to the built environment, information and communication systems, education, work, community life and politics. This book will be of interest to all scholars and students working in disability studies, planning, architecture, public health, rehabilitation, social work, and education"-- |

This book will be of interest to all scholars and students working in disability studies, planning, architecture, public health, rehabilitation, social work, and education"-- Behinderter Mensch (DE-588)4005279-5 gnd rswk-swf Bürgerrecht (DE-588)4146877-6 gnd rswk-swf Entwicklungsländer (DE-588)4014954-7 gnd rswk-swf People with disabilities / Civil rights / Developing countries Discrimination against people with disabilities / Developing countries Citizenship / Developing countries Barrier-free design / Developing countries Barrier-free design Citizenship Discrimination against people with disabilities People with disabilities / Civil rights Developing countries (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Entwicklungsländer (DE-588)4014954-7 g Behinderter Mensch (DE-588)4005279-5 s Bürgerrecht (DE-588)4146877-6 s DE-604 Lid, Inger Marie 1965- (DE-588)1105702758 edt win aut Steinfeld, Edward edt win aut Rembis, Michael A. 1970- (DE-588)1163421731 edt win aut Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-1-003-05270-8 Digitalisierung UB Regensburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=034614856&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
