Zusammenfassung:This study looks into the various ways and occasions for gift exchange during princely weddings through a close reading of two hitherto unknown gift inventories from Matthias Corvinus and Beatrice of Aragon’s nuptials (1476). Although they provide only partial data, these inventories demonstrate that the wedding gifts served numerous roles: they heightened the splendor of the entire event, and they were a tool for the groom’s self-promotion and the bride’s integration into a new environment. Furthermore, the redistribution of the gifts helped the royal pair to connect with their subjects and to construct or reinforce their relationships with foreign powers.
