Zusammenfassung: | "This book explores the detrimental effects on global peace of populism's tendency to present complex social issues in simplistic "good vs. evil" terms. Analyzing the civilizational discourse of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with respect to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine - with his division of the world into "civilized us" vs. "barbarian them" - the book argues that such a one-dimensional representation of complex social reality leaves no space for understanding the conflict and has little, if any, potential to bring about peace. To deconstruct the "civilization vs. barbarism" discourse propagated by Zelensky, the book incorporates into its analysis alternative articulations of the crisis by oppositional voices. The author looks at the writing of several popular Ukrainian journalists and bloggers who have been excluded from the field of political representation within Ukraine, where all oppositional media are currently banned. Drawing on the discourse theory of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe, the author argues that the incorporation of alternative perspectives, and silenced voices, is vitally important for understanding the complexity of all international conflicts, including the current one between Russia and Ukraine. This timely and important study will be relevant for all students and scholars of media and communication studies, populist rhetoric, political communication, journalism, area studies, international relations, linguistics, discourse analysis, propaganda, and peace studies"-- |

This timely and important study will be relevant for all students and scholars of media and communication studies, populist rhetoric, political communication, journalism, area studies, international relations, linguistics, discourse analysis, propaganda, and peace studies"--</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Zelensʹkyj, Volodymyr Oleksandrovyč</subfield><subfield code="d">1978-</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)1179997255</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Russisch-Ukrainischer Krieg</subfield><subfield code="g">Motiv</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)1277185530</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Populismus</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4129521-3</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Politische Kommunikation</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4134262-8</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Ukraine</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4061496-7</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Communication in politics / Ukraine</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Populism / Ukraine</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Ukraine / History / Russian Invasion, 2022- / Press coverage</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Ukraine / Politics and government / 20th century</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Zelensky, Volodymyr / 1978- / Political and social views</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Zelensky, Volodymyr / 1978-</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Communication in politics</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Political and social views</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Politics and government</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Populism</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Press coverage</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Ukraine</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Since 1900</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">History</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Ukraine</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4061496-7</subfield><subfield code="D">g</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Zelensʹkyj, Volodymyr Oleksandrovyč</subfield><subfield code="d">1978-</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)1179997255</subfield><subfield code="D">p</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Politische Kommunikation</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4134262-8</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="3"><subfield code="a">Populismus</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4129521-3</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Russisch-Ukrainischer Krieg</subfield><subfield code="g">Motiv</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)1277185530</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="5">DE-604</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Erscheint auch als</subfield><subfield code="n">Online-Ausgabe</subfield><subfield code="z">978-1-003-37916-4</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="m">Digitalisierung BSB München -
