Zusammenfassung:The drawings, paintings, objects and books that this exhibition consists of make up an extensive story in which Gonzalo Elvira (Neuquén, Patagonia, Argentina, 1971) has wanted to overlap two of the fundamental pillars of contemporary culture on both sides of the Atlantic: the formal artistic investigations of a rational nature fueled by the Bauhaus, and psychoanalysis as a therapy to treat emotional problems. It is a complex theoretical counterpoint that maintains its inexhaustible validity in the dialectical dispute between reflection and feeling, essential mechanisms of knowledge and consciousness. The research undertaken by Elvira unfolds in the CAB in three rooms. In the first of them, the recreated covers of Idilio magazine by Gonzalo Elvira along with their originals are intertwined with Spellbound (Remember, in Spain), the film directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1945 that incorporates a dream sequence with sets by Salvador Dalí, which constituted the first appearance of psychoanalysis in a large mass medium. The second room is dedicated to the office of Richard Rest, the fictional character put together by Gino Germani and Enrique Butelman. Portraits, images and objects, both real and simulated, share the spotlight with a stellar protagonist: the Spaniard Ángel Garma Zubizarreta, introducer of psychoanalysis in the Southern Cone. Finally, the third area is dedicated to dreams. Through large-format paintings, the female protagonists recreated by Gonzalo Elvira recover all their prominence. Gonzalo Elvira's technical characteristics, based on the accumulation of numerous chromatic points, composes a swarm of superimpositions that give the drawing nuance, generate textures and accentuate perspectives.
