Zusammenfassung: | The Paris peace settlements following the First World War remain amongst the most controversial treaties in history. Bringing together leading international historians, this volume assesses the extent to which a new international order, combining old and new political forms, emerged from the peace negotiations and settlements after 1918. Taking account of new historiographical perspectives and methodological approaches to the study of peacemaking after the First World War, it views the peace negotiations and settlements after 1918 as a site of remarkable innovations in the practice of international politics. The contributors address how a wide range of actors set out new ways of thinking about international order, established innovative institutions, and revolutionised the conduct of international relations. They illustrate the ways in which these innovations were merged with existing practices, institutions, and concepts to shape the international order that emerged out of the Paris Peace Conference of 1919 |

Otte -- Afterword: New histories of international order / Glenda Sluga The Paris peace settlements following the First World War remain amongst the most controversial treaties in history. They illustrate the ways in which these innovations were merged with existing practices, institutions, and concepts to shape the international order that emerged out of the Paris Peace Conference of 1919 Paris Peace Conference (1919-1920) League of Nations Pariser Friedenskonferenz 1919-1920 Paris (DE-588)1217272-8 gnd rswk-swf World War, 1914-1918 / Peace International organization / History Peace-building / History Diplomacy / History World politics / 1919-1932 Friedenssicherung (DE-588)4019411-5 gnd rswk-swf Internationale Politik (DE-588)4072885-7 gnd rswk-swf Erster Weltkrieg (DE-588)4079163-4 gnd rswk-swf Internationales politisches System (DE-588)4125488-0 gnd rswk-swf Nachkriegszeit (DE-588)4421423-6 gnd rswk-swf Pariser Friedenskonferenz 1919-1920 Paris (DE-588)1217272-8 f Erster Weltkrieg (DE-588)4079163-4 s Nachkriegszeit (DE-588)4421423-6 s Internationale Politik (DE-588)4072885-7 s Internationales politisches System (DE-588)4125488-0 s Friedenssicherung (DE-588)4019411-5 s DE-604 Jackson, Peter 1964- (DE-588)129605662 edt Mulligan, William 1975- (DE-588)134085302 edt Sluga, Glenda 1962- (DE-588)140556869 edt Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardback 978-1-108-83050-8 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 978-1-108-82734-8 https://doi.org/10.1017/9781108907750 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
