Zusammenfassung: | "RASPUTIN’S RELATIONSHIP with Russia’s last Tsarina, Alexandra, notorious from the famous Boney M song, has never been adequately addressed; biographies are always for one or the other, or simply Alexandra and her husband Nicholas. In this new work, Mickey Mayhew reimagines Alexandra for the #MeToo generation; ‘neurotic’; ‘hysterical’; ‘credulous’ and ‘fanatical’ are shunted aside in favour of a sympathetic reimagining of a reserved and pious woman tossed into the heart of Russian aristocracy, with the sole purpose of providing their patriarchal monarchy with an heir. When her longed-for son then developed haemophilia, she turned to the one man capable of curing the child’s agonising pain – Grigory Rasputin. Some say that between them, Grigory and Alexandra brought down 300 years of Romanov rule and ushered in the Russian Revolution, but theirs was simply the story of a mother fighting for the health of her son against a backdrop of bigotry, sexism and increasing secularism. She liked to pray and he liked to party, but when they found themselves steering Russia through the First World War, her gender and his class gave society no option but to destroy them." -- |

She liked to pray and he liked to party, but when they found themselves steering Russia through the First World War, her gender and his class gave society no option but to destroy them." --</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Alexandra</subfield><subfield code="c">Russland, Zarin</subfield><subfield code="d">1872-1918</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)118648047</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Rasputin, Grigorij Efimovič</subfield><subfield code="d">1872-1916</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)118598376</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Russia / History / Nicholas II, 1894-1917</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Rasputin, Grigoriĭ Efimovich / 1869-1916 / https://isni.org/isni/0000000121036385</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Alexandra / Empress, consort of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia / 1872-1918 / https://isni.org/isni/0000000121266842</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Alekseĭ Nikolaevich / Czarevitch, son of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia / 1904-1918 / Health</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Alekseĭ Nikolaevich / Czarevitch, son of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia / 1904-1918</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Alexandra / Empress, consort of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia / 1872-1918</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Rasputin, Grigoriĭ Efimovich / 1869-1916</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Health</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Russia</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">1894-1917</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">History</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Biographies</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Rasputin, Grigorij Efimovič</subfield><subfield code="d">1872-1916</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)118598376</subfield><subfield code="D">p</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Alexandra</subfield><subfield code="c">Russland, Zarin</subfield><subfield code="d">1872-1918</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)118648047</subfield><subfield code="D">p</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="5">DE-604</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Rounding, Virginia</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)1299759106</subfield><subfield code="4">wpr</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="m">Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment</subfield><subfield code="q">application/pdf</subfield><subfield code="u">http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=034318145&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA</subfield><subfield code="3">Inhaltsverzeichnis</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="m">Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment</subfield><subfield code="q">application/pdf</subfield><subfield code="u">http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=034318145&sequence=000003&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA</subfield><subfield code="3">Register // Personenregister</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="940" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="n">oe</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="940" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="q">BSB_NED_20230830</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="999" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">oai:aleph.bib-bvb.de:BVB01-034318145</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="942" ind1="1" ind2="1"><subfield code="c">909</subfield><subfield code="e">22/bsb</subfield><subfield code="f">09041</subfield><subfield code="g">471</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

She liked to pray and he liked to party, but when they found themselves steering Russia through the First World War, her gender and his class gave society no option but to destroy them." -- Alexandra Russland, Zarin 1872-1918 (DE-588)118648047 gnd rswk-swf Rasputin, Grigorij Efimovič 1872-1916 (DE-588)118598376 gnd rswk-swf Russia / History / Nicholas II, 1894-1917 Rasputin, Grigoriĭ Efimovich / 1869-1916 / https://isni.org/isni/0000000121036385 Alexandra / Empress, consort of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia / 1872-1918 / https://isni.org/isni/0000000121266842 Alekseĭ Nikolaevich / Czarevitch, son of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia / 1904-1918 / Health Alekseĭ Nikolaevich / Czarevitch, son of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia / 1904-1918 Alexandra / Empress, consort of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia / 1872-1918 Rasputin, Grigoriĭ Efimovich / 1869-1916 Health Russia 1894-1917 History Biographies Rasputin, Grigorij Efimovič 1872-1916 (DE-588)118598376 p Alexandra Russland, Zarin 1872-1918 (DE-588)118648047 p DE-604 Rounding, Virginia (DE-588)1299759106 wpr Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=034318145&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=034318145&sequence=000003&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Register // Personenregister |
