Zusammenfassung: | Stereotypical characters that promoted the Nazi worldview were repurposed by antifascist authors in Weimar Germany, argues Dagmar C.G. Lorenz. This is the first book to trace Nazi characters through the German and Austrian literature. Until the defeat of the Third Reich, pro-Nazi literature was widely distributed. However, after the war, Nazi publications were suppressed or even banned, and new writers began to dominate the market alongside exile and resistance authors. The fact that Nazi figures remained consistent suggests that, rather than representing real people, they functioned as ideological signifiers. Recent literature and films set in the Nazi era show that "the Nazis", ambiguous characters with a sinister appeal, live on as an established trope in the cultural imagination |

Lorenz Stereotypical characters that promoted the Nazi worldview were repurposed by antifascist authors in Weimar Germany, argues Dagmar C.G. Recent literature and films set in the Nazi era show that "the Nazis", ambiguous characters with a sinister appeal, live on as an established trope in the cultural imagination Hitler, Adolf 1889-1945 Mein Kampf (DE-588)4113925-2 gnd rswk-swf Reimann, Hans 1889-1969 (DE-588)118744089 gnd rswk-swf Feuchtwanger, Lion 1884-1958 Die Geschwister Oppenheim (DE-588)4248383-9 gnd rswk-swf Mann, Klaus 1906-1949 Mephisto (DE-588)4130662-4 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1918-2000 gnd rswk-swf Nazis in literature German literature 20th century History and criticism Nazi propaganda National socialism in literature Austrian literature 20th century History and criticism Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 gnd rswk-swf Deutsch (DE-588)4113292-0 gnd rswk-swf Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 gnd rswk-swf Identität Motiv (DE-588)4311101-4 gnd rswk-swf Propaganda (DE-588)4076374-2 gnd rswk-swf Nationalsozialismus (DE-588)4041316-0 gnd rswk-swf Stereotypisierung (DE-588)4183130-5 gnd rswk-swf Nationalsozialismus Motiv (DE-588)4115345-5 gnd rswk-swf Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 gnd rswk-swf Deutsch (DE-588)4113292-0 s Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 s Nationalsozialismus Motiv (DE-588)4115345-5 s Identität Motiv (DE-588)4311101-4 s Stereotypisierung (DE-588)4183130-5 s Geschichte 1918-2000 z DE-604 Feuchtwanger, Lion 1884-1958 Die Geschwister Oppenheim (DE-588)4248383-9 u Mann, Klaus 1906-1949 Mephisto (DE-588)4130662-4 u Hitler, Adolf 1889-1945 Mein Kampf (DE-588)4113925-2 u Reimann, Hans 1889-1969 (DE-588)118744089 p Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 g Nationalsozialismus (DE-588)4041316-0 s Propaganda (DE-588)4076374-2 s Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 s Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 9789004365254 https://doi.org/10.1163/9789004365261 Verlag kostenfrei Volltext |
