Zusammenfassung: | Print, in the early modern period, could make or break power. This volume addresses one of the most urgent and topical questions in early modern history: how did European authorities use a new medium with such tremendous potential? The eighteen contributors develop new perspectives on the relationship between the rise of print and the changing relationships between subjects and rulers by analysing print's role in early modern bureaucracy, the techniques of printed propaganda, genres and strategies of state communication. While print is often still thought of as an emancipating and destabilizing force of change in early modern societies, the resulting picture shows how instrumental print was in strengthening existing power structures |

While print is often still thought of as an emancipating and destabilizing force of change in early modern societies, the resulting picture shows how instrumental print was in strengthening existing This volume addresses one of the most urgent and topical questions in early modern history: how did European authorities use a new medium with such tremendous potential? The eighteen contributors develop new perspectives on the relationship between the rise of print and the changing relationships between subjects and rulers by analysing print's role in early modern bureaucracy, the techniques of printed propaganda, genres and strategies of state communication. While print is often still thought of as an emancipating and destabilizing force of change in early modern societies, the resulting picture shows how instrumental print was in strengthening existing power structures Katholische Kirche (DE-588)2009545-4 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1500-1800 gnd rswk-swf Cartography History Macht (DE-588)4036824-5 gnd rswk-swf Herrscher (DE-588)4024600-0 gnd rswk-swf Machtstruktur (DE-588)4246883-8 gnd rswk-swf Reformation (DE-588)4048946-2 gnd rswk-swf Druckerpresse (DE-588)4523304-4 gnd rswk-swf Propaganda (DE-588)4076374-2 gnd rswk-swf Buchdruck (DE-588)4008598-3 gnd rswk-swf Instrument (DE-588)4114030-8 gnd rswk-swf Bild (DE-588)4006568-6 gnd rswk-swf Staat (DE-588)4056618-3 gnd rswk-swf Wissensvermittlung (DE-588)4190121-6 gnd rswk-swf Autorität (DE-588)4003990-0 gnd rswk-swf Staatsgewalt (DE-588)4056648-1 gnd rswk-swf Ikonographie (DE-588)4026535-3 gnd rswk-swf Machtzuwachs (DE-588)7545408-7 gnd rswk-swf Kommunikation (DE-588)4031883-7 gnd rswk-swf Europa (DE-588)4015701-5 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Europa (DE-588)4015701-5 g Buchdruck (DE-588)4008598-3 s Herrscher (DE-588)4024600-0 s Staat (DE-588)4056618-3 s Macht (DE-588)4036824-5 s Propaganda (DE-588)4076374-2 s Druckerpresse (DE-588)4523304-4 s Instrument (DE-588)4114030-8 s Kommunikation (DE-588)4031883-7 s Geschichte 1500-1800 z DE-604 Machtstruktur (DE-588)4246883-8 s Autorität (DE-588)4003990-0 s Machtzuwachs (DE-588)7545408-7 s Katholische Kirche (DE-588)2009545-4 b Bild (DE-588)4006568-6 s Ikonographie (DE-588)4026535-3 s Wissensvermittlung (DE-588)4190121-6 s Staatsgewalt (DE-588)4056648-1 s Reformation (DE-588)4048946-2 s Helmers, Helmer J. edt Cumby, Jamie edt Lamal, Nina edt Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-90-04-44888-9 https://doi.org/10.1163/9789004448896 Verlag kostenfrei Volltext |
