Zusammenfassung: | By almost any measure Bernardino Barbatelli, called Poccetti, was a successful and sought after painter in late sixteenth-century Florence, but his works have remained largely overlooked. This study situates representative examples of his religious painting within their respective contexts to demonstrate how Poccetti and his patrons negotiated the increasingly fraught terrain of sacred painting in the period of religious reform. These case studies demonstrate how patrons ranging from the Dominicans to the Carthusians to prominent Florentine patricians relied on Poccetti's skill in creating compelling narratives that reflected current concerns within the Catholic world. In the process, Poccetti invoked an august Florentine tradition of fresco painting, shaping it to better address the demands placed on religious imagery at the end of the Renaissance |

In the process, Poccetti invoked an august Florentine tradition of fresco painting, shaping it to better address the demands placed on religious imagery at the end of the Renaissance Poccetti, Bernardino 1548-1612 (DE-588)118792628 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1573-1612 gnd rswk-swf Malerei (DE-588)4037220-0 gnd rswk-swf Florenz (DE-588)4017581-9 gnd rswk-swf History, Art History, and Archaeology HIS Art and Material Culture ART & MAT Early Modern Studies EARLY MOD Religion and Theology REL & THEOL Bernardino Poccetti, Florence, Religious Art, Renaissance History of art and design styles: c 1400 to c 1600 Early modern history: c 1450/1500 to c 1700 ART / History / Renaissance ART / Subjects & Themes / Religious HISTORY / Europe / Italy History of art Poccetti, Bernardino 1548-1612 (DE-588)118792628 p Florenz (DE-588)4017581-9 g Malerei (DE-588)4037220-0 s Geschichte 1573-1612 z DE-604 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-90-4855-095-1 https://images.ctfassets.net/4wrp2um278k7/679cglVtjt5imH8sIyJjp8/5868e1bf55ef466f4653f82d8d2f64b9/9789463729529_web.jpg Image V:DE-604 application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=034260328&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
