Zusammenfassung:	Volume X of the annual publication The Art of Eastern Europe, entitled Antiquity in Polish Art and Artistic Culture in the late 18th and 19th Centuries, contains texts chiefly concerned with architecture and painting, from the early Neoclassicism of the reign of the Polish king Stanisław August Poniatowski to the predominance of historicism (in architecture) and academicism (in painting). During the era of the partition of Poland connections with ancient, Christian and contemporary Rome served as a counterweight to the Eastern Orthodox and Protestant cultures intrinsic to the ideology of the partitioning powers. Polish culture and art retained their independence thanks to these associations with Roman civilisation. It is not without significance that this indicated an affirmation of the nation’s allegiance to Western European culture. Consequently, the aim of the present publication is the presentation of important sources of modern Polish cultural and artistic tradition

Od Franciszka Smuglewicza do Igora Mitoraja" w dniach 21-23 września 2022 roku w Warszawie - część 1 Volume X of the annual publication The Art of Eastern Europe, entitled Antiquity in Polish Art and Artistic Culture in the late 18th and 19th Centuries, contains texts chiefly concerned with architecture and painting, from the early Neoclassicism of the reign of the Polish king Stanisław August Poniatowski to the predominance of historicism (in architecture) and academicism (in painting). During the era of the partition of Poland connections with ancient, Christian and contemporary Rome served as a counterweight to the Eastern Orthodox and Protestant cultures intrinsic to the ideology of the partitioning powers. Polish culture and art retained their independence thanks to these associations with Roman civilisation. It is not without significance that this indicated an affirmation of the nation’s allegiance to Western European culture.
